Derbyshire LINk has been asked to forward the following details on behalf of the East Midlands Specialised Commissioning Group.
The East Midlands Specialised Commissioning Group has updated their draft copy of the RCC treatment policy. This has been developed to ensure fair access to cancer treatments for renal cell carcinoma in the East Midlands.
Renal cell carcinoma is a type of kidney cancer. Around 621 patients living in the East Midlands in 2008 were diagnosed with this cancer. Unfortunately, in many cases the cancer is already advanced at the time of diagnosis and it is very resistant to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. This policy has been updated to include some new cancer drugs that could be used to treat this type of cancer.
Please find a link to the draft policy (with glossary at the back of the document), a Q&A explaining what the policy is and why it has been written, and a feedback form for the submission of your comments.
Please feel free to pass this information onto any relevant interested parties. The closing date for receipt of feedback is 4th August 2010.
Please return the feedback form by either post or email to:-
